Zinc sulphate, ZnSO4, is the mostcommon of zinc salts. Zinc sulphate occurs naturally as the mineral calamine, and has been used ancient times as both an alchemical reagent and traditionalmedicine, primarily in Asia and Europe. Production of zinc sulphate starts withthe mining of zinc ore, followed by heating to extract the zinc in the form ofoxide or hydroxide. The oxide or hydroxide is then dissolved in sulfuric acid, followed by crystallization and filtering to produce the final product.
