Manufacturing Process:

Ethyl acetate is produced via an esterification reaction between ethanol and acetic acid. In a process known as transesterification, both compounds are dissolved in their pure form in an organic solvent such as methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE).

At moderate temperatures (about 30 degrees Celsius) and under pressure, they are allowed to react with each other. The resulting solution contains mostly ethyl acetate, along with some water and traces of acetic acid and ethanol. The mixture is then distilled to separate out these impurities from ethyl acetate.

After distillation, it can be further purified by passing it through activated carbon filters. To ensure purity, it can also be run through vacuum distillation or recrystallization processes.
