Ascorbic Acid is one of two forms of vitamin C. It can be used as a source of vitamin C or in place of pure L-ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid powder is often used in health care, skin care and food & beverage applications. Ascorbic acid powder consists essentially of pure L-ascorbic acid with at least 99% purity. The product is a white to off-white crystalline powder that has no odor or taste. The melting point of ascorbic acid is 189–191 °C (383–385 °F). Ascorbic acid has excellent water solubility, which enables it to dissolve easily in water and glycerin to form an oil-free solution. This product can be used for many different applications including nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and toothpaste.

Ascorbic Acid may be added to some medicines to prevent discoloration of the tablets or capsules.
Business Plan: Manufacturing of Ascorbic Acid (Powder) from Sorbitol
Manufacturing Process
Sorbitol is made using three different processes: hydrogenation, hydrolysis, and crystallisation. Sorbitol is extracted from starchy materials such as corn or wheat in the first phase, utilising enzymes and hot water. The sorbitol is then converted into hydrogenated glucose syrup in the next phase. Finally, sugar lumps are eliminated by using a vacuum evaporator to crystallise sugar syrup. This process purifies sugar crystals by removing moisture from them. Centrifuge machines are then used to extract sugar crystals from contaminants such as sand particles. The end product is a white granulated powder that can be utilised in the food industry as a sweetener. This powder can also be used as a thickening in the food sector because it includes a high level of polysaccharide, a viscosity agent that helps it maintain its structure even when blended with other liquids like juices.
